The last issue of Australia’s 1955-63 Collector Proof Program, the Melbourne Mint’s 1963 4-Coin Proof Set is extremely scarce and highly sought after.

A fine memento of Australia’s first national currency system, the 1963 Proof Set comprised four silver coins – the threepence, sixpence, shilling and florin. Carrying the traditional design for its denomination – introduced in 1938 during the reign of King George VI – each Silver Proof featured the first Australian coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Struck to demand, the mintage was closed at just 5,042 sets – a minuscule number compared with the mass production of Proof Sets in the decimal era.

Struck the highest standard of the Melbourne Mint, these coins literally sparkle with quality – as illustrated by the set available here. Uniting clear fields and razor-sharp designs, this stunning set is a must-have for the collector with an eye for quality. The four coins have been officially assessed and graded by NGC at PF66-67.
