Commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the ANZAC Gallipoli Landings

On April 25th, 1915, Australian and New Zealand troops landed on a small bay on the Gallipoli peninsula, defended by the Ottoman Turkish Empire. This combined force became known as the ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) force, and the bay is now known as Anzac Cove. ANZAC Day, the 25th of April, is a significant military holiday in both Australia and New Zealand.

In 2005, the Royal Australian Mint (RAM) released a commemorative $1 coin with five different counterstamps honoring the 90th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings:

  • (C) Canberra Mintmark (Gallery Press & General Sale): Mintage of 88,424
  • (B) Brisbane Mintmark (ANDA Show & General Sale): Mintage of 41,999
  • (S) Sydney Mintmark (ANDA & STAMPex & General Sale): Mintage of 41,581
  • (M) Melbourne Mintmark (ANDA Show & General Sale): Mintage of 38,727
  • (G) Australian War Memorial Mintmark: Mintage of 35,452

Condition The coins remain in excellent, lustrous condition and are presented in their original coin cards. Some cards may be folded, and minor toning may be present.
