1966 Australian 5 Cent Coin Set, minted by the Royal Australian Mint.

The different varieties can be distinguished by the die markers left on each.

The Royal Australian Mint variety has a short stubby spike about half the length of the London Variety on the Echidna's right shoulder (The Royal Mint London variety has a long pointed spine).

The Royal Australian Mint minted 45.4 Million of these coins.

When Australia changed over to decimal currency, the monumental task of minting the coins required was aided by the Royal Mint London.

All 1966 denominations excluding the 1 and 2 cent coins and the 50 cent coin share a similar origin, each with their own distinctive die markers.
