Have you ever wondered where the Philatelic Numismatic Cover (PNC) came from?
This PNC represents one of the first "Mint Letters" released.
The creation of John Miles Baker, Hal Silene and their 99 Company.
The idea came about as a result of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the release of the Commemorative Kennedy Half Dollar release.
John Baker's Father was a Stamp Collector and had many First Day Covers which he recalled seeing often as a child which made him well versed in the aspect of getting stamps on the first day of release and having them postmarked.
When the release of the commemorative Half Dollars was announced, this "made a bell ring in my head" he stated, which began his quest to create the combination of coin and stamp in a first day cover.
A fascinating story for the Numismatist and Philatelist alike.
