1976 Papua New Guinea - Second Proof Set Of Papua New Guinea - Silver Proof Set - Franklin Mint
This 1976 proof set is the second release of the coinage of Papua New Guinea
These sets were struck by the Franklin Mint in the United States in extremely limited numbers.
These coins portray Papua New Guinea's extraordinary wildlife, together with the symbols of the nation's sovereignty.
The set contains 8 coins, the large 10 Kina coin is struck in sterling silver, and weighs 41 grams, the 5 Kina is struck in 0.500 silver and weighs 27.6 grams (around $63.00 of silver content in these alone).
The one and two Toeas are struck from Copper plated zinc.
While the Five, Ten, Twenty Toeas and 1 Kina are Copper-nickel.
The set remains in amazing condition considering its age.
The external cover has some discolouration, marks and dents but has done its job of protecting the inner case well.
The inner case has only minor wear in the form of some external marks. The hinges of the case have rusted, but still open smoothly.
I would describe the inside of the case as almost brand new with no noticeable issues to the inner lid or coin holders and only some slight discoloration to the padding covering the hinges.
The coins themselves remain in immaculate proof condition, and remain in the original sealed packaging.
