Australia's 2nd $5 proof, honouring the ANZACs in Gallipoli.

The $5 proof coin for 1990 was in fact part of a joint release by the RAM and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.

The Australian coin depicts one of the most enduring stories of Australia's proud military history, that of Simpson and his donkey.

With the New Zealand release depicting a fully kitted infantry soldier, in the uniform of 1915, in front of a flowing New Zealand flag.

33,752 of these sets were released.

Both coins have a diameter of 38.74mm and a weight of 28g.

All elements of this set are in as issued condition, the only damage being to the inner cardboard holder of the coin cases. Some tears have developed (most likely a result of the design) towards the front of the coin cases in these holders. These have been repaired  using sticky tape by the previous owner, who has kept the set in immaculate condition otherwise.

I have carefully removed the tape after taking the images.
