4 of these sets are available. 1 that has been opened, and 3 that remain in the original shrink wrap that I would class as brand new in box.

The Masterpieces in Silver series was produced from 1988 to 2011 by the Royal Australian Mint. This long running coin series is dedicated to Australian themes and events that have shaped Australia as a nation.

The 1997 Masterpieces in Silver - Proof sterling silver five coin set pays tribute to the Opening of the Continent of Australia.

The series pays tribute to the many forms of transport used to open the vast Australian continent including camels, steam trains and steam boats.

All reverse sides of the coins were designed by Wojciech Pietrani, with the Obverse of each carrying the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf

Coins are struck to proof quality and are $5 Denomination. Crafted from 92.5% Silver, weighing 35.79 grams and 38.90mm in diameter each.

Stored in a large clamshell case, with certificate of authenticity. This set also has an external box to keep the case protected.

In the case of the opened set:

Some very minor wear to the external box has occurred, with the case remaining in almost perfect condition (rare for these earlier sets!).

While the sets that remain in shrink-wrap appear to be in as issued condition on the exterior.

The final 4 images show one of the Factory Sealed sets.
