About this Coin:
The 1949 Crown is a significant piece of New Zealand numismatic history, intended to celebrate the first-ever visit of a reigning British monarch to New Zealand. Although the tour was ultimately cancelled due to the King's failing health, the coins had already been struck and were released to the public. It remains the only crown-sized coin of George VI's reign for New Zealand. While verdigris is present on this example, its strong underlying detail and remaining lustre make it an affordable entry point for a collector looking to add this classic silver crown to their set.
