About this Coin
The 1951 Federation Florin was issued to mark half a century since the six British colonies joined together to form the Commonwealth of Australia in 1901. The reverse design is rich in symbolism: the sword and mace represent the authority of the Executive and the Parliament, while the seven-pointed Federation Star represents the states and territories. With a mintage of only 2 million, this coin is significantly scarcer than standard florins of the era. Finding an example in this high state of preservation ensures that the fine details of the crown and the crisp fields of the coin are beautifully displayed.
