About this Coin

The 1951 Federation Florin was issued to mark half a century since the six British colonies joined together to form the Commonwealth of Australia in 1901. The reverse design is rich in symbolism: the sword and mace represent the authority of the Executive and the Parliament, while the seven-pointed Federation Star represents the states and territories. With a mintage of only 2 million, this coin is significantly scarcer than standard florins of the era.
