This commemorative piece marks the final voyage of the legendary Orient-Express in May 1977. It features a genuine stamped "PMC" (Philatelic Medallic Cover) item, remarkably carried aboard the actual last train journey of the Orient Express in 1977.
The centrepiece is a polished proof finish silver (.925) bullion medal. One side displays a detailed map of the iconic route from Paris to Istanbul, traversing through Central and Eastern Europe. The other side proudly reads "Le Dernier Voyage de L'Orient-Express" (The Last Journey of the Orient-Express) alongside the dates "19-22 Mai 1977" and the CIWL (Compagnie internationale des wagons-lits) logo.
The medal weighs 13.46 grams, has a diameter of 32 mm and a thickness of 2.1 mm, with a milled edge featuring the inscription "ZILVER 925/1000 © FMN 77 P. Mint".
Flanking the coin are two significant stamps, one on each side. A Turkish stamp bears a postmark from Istanbul dated "22-V-77", while a French stamp is postmarked "Paris Gare p.l.m 19-5-1977".
Certificate of Authenticity signed by Jacques-Bernard Dupont, the Administrateur Directeur General of the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits.
