About this Coin

The 2001 Federal Coat of Arms 50c coin is famous among error collectors for producing one of the most recognisable modern Australian die errors: the "Roo-Zilla."

As the working die gradually chipped and broke away over successive strikes, metal filled the deteriorating voids along the kangaroo's spine. This created a row of dramatic raised lumps running down the kangaroo's back, prompting collectors to playfully dub the monstrous-looking marsupial "Roo-Zilla" in reference to Godzilla.

Combining a celebrated key commemorative release with a widely sought-after minting error, this Uncirculated example is a standout addition for any decimal error enthusiast.
