The 2001 Federal Coat of Arms 50c coin is famous among error collectors for producing one of the most recognisable modern Australian die errors: the "Roo-Zilla."

As the working die gradually chipped and broke away over successive strikes, metal filled the deteriorating voids along the kangaroo's spine.
