2004 50c Coin - Primary School Student Design - Uncirculated+
Discover a unique piece of Australian numismatic history with this 2004 50c uncirculated coin, a special release from the Royal Australian Mint featuring the winning design from a nationwide Primary School Student Coin Design Competition.
In 2003, John Serrano, a Year 5/6 student from St. Peter's Primary School in East Keilor, Victoria, captured the hearts of the public with his hand-drawn design. Chosen from over 2,500 entries, John's artwork brilliantly incorporates three iconic Australian fauna – a koala holding onto a gum tree, a lorikeet with outstretched wings, and a wombat – all conveying the essence of 'Australia'. Mint designer Vladimir Gottwald faithfully sculpted John's drawing for this coin, ensuring its intricate details were perfectly reproduced.
