Celebrate one of the finest literary talents in history with this 2012 Royal Mint £2 Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) commemorative coin, issued to mark 200 years since the birth of Charles Dickens.
Design and Significance
This unique coin pays tribute to Dickens' significant literary contributions:
- The reverse features a bespoke design by Matthew Dent, in which Dickens’ iconic profile is uniquely populated by the titles of his classic works, marking this important anniversary.
- The coin includes an edge inscription quoting the memorable character, Mr Micawber.
- The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley.
This BU Charles Dickens £2 coin was struck in conjunction with the Charles Dickens Museum and is no longer available new and direct from The Royal Mint.
Features and Presentation
The coin is a £2 Coin (UK Legal Tender) with a Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) finish. It is composed of a nickel-brass outer ring and a cupro-nickel inner section, weighing 12.00 grams gross. The coin is housed in its included original presentation folder, which also presents Dickens' unmistakable portrait and celebrates his literary contributions.
Condition Note
The original display folder remains sealed in the original Mint bag. Please note that some shelf wear may be present on the outer bag.
