His incredible life of service included over 22,000 solo engagements, patronage of over 800 charities, and nearly 5,500 speeches across 65 years.

Design and Significance

This cupro-nickel collector's piece is a tribute to his remarkable dedication. The reverse features a portrait of the Duke of Edinburgh facing right, originally designed by the celebrated engraver Thomas Humphrey Paget in 1970. Below the portrait, the Latin text 'NON SIBI SED PATRIAE' (not for self, but for country) is inscribed, perfectly summarising his commitment. The obverse shows his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, featuring the fifth official effigy designed by Royal Mint artist Jody Clark.

It is composed of cupro-nickel, weighs 28.28 grams, and has a diameter of 38.61 millimetres.
