Design and Significance

This limited edition coin beautifully honours The Queen's lifetime of service:

• The reverse design by engraver Glyn Davies features the Imperial State Crown as its centrepiece. To the left is a moving quote from The Queen's 21st birthday radio broadcast: 'MY WHOLE LIFE, WHETHER IT BE LONG OR SHORT, DEVOTED TO YOUR SERVICE'.
• The outer ring of the traditional design is inscribed with the lettering 'SAPPHIRE JUBILEE · 1952 - 2017'.
• The obverse features the fifth definitive UK coin image of Her Majesty, designed by Jody Clark.

Features and Presentation

The coin is a £5 Crown (UK Legal Tender) with a Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) finish, achieved by being struck twice during production for superior detail and collector quality. It is composed of cupro-nickel, weighs 28.28 grams, and measures 38.61 millimetres in diameter. The coin is housed in an officially approved Royal Mint coin sleeve, which includes colourful photographs and information about the Queen's Sapphire Jubilee.
