About this Coin:
Released in 2018 in conjunction with News Corp Australia, this 50-cent coin is part of a 15-coin series commemorating the centenary of the Armistice. It pays tribute to the "Daring" tactical boldness of the Australian Light Horse Brigade during the final Allied offensive against the Ottoman Empire at Megiddo in September 1918. The design is inspired by the stained-glass windows in the Hall of Memory at the Australian War Memorial, symbolising the audacious courage that helped bring a conclusion to World War I. With its relatively low mintage and unique 12-sided shape, this coin is a key piece for collectors of military history and ANZAC-themed currency.
