A Momentous Achievement:

On 22 August 1872, the Overland Telegraph line, spanning from Adelaide to Darwin, was finally connected. This monumental feat was the result of years of meticulous planning and 23 months of gruelling construction through challenging terrain. The telegraph involved 36,000 poles stretching across 2,839 kilometres, traversing vast and largely unexplored landscapes.

Charles Todd, South Australia's Superintendent of Telegraphs and Postmaster-General, was the visionary behind this project. His unwavering determination and leadership brought this ambitious endeavour to fruition. The Overland Telegraph, hailed as one of Australia's greatest engineering feats of the 19th century, revolutionised communication across the nation.

Commemorative Coin:

This uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is presented in a beautifully designed card with a circular window showcasing both the coin's reverse and obverse designs.

• Design: The reverse features a stylised depiction of telegraph poles and their shadows, set against a cloudy sky. Inscriptions include '150TH ANNIVERSARY', 'THE OVERLAND TELEGRAPH'S COMPLETION', and The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark.
• Obverse: The obverse displays the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2022 year-date.

Official Australia Post Stamp:

An official Australia Post $1.10 stamp is affixed to the envelope. The stamp is postmarked for the first day of issue, and the envelope includes Australia Post's Seal of Authenticity.
