Two obverse/reverse die combinations were used in 1922: "Indian obverse" and "London obverse." The "London obverse" has 177 outer rim denticles.
Scarce "wide date" and "wide date, toenail 9" varieties also exist.
Both obverses feature King George V with the Latin inscription "GEORGIVS V D.G. BRITT: OMN: REX F.D. IND: IMP:" which translates to "George V, by the grace of God, King of all Britons, defender of the faith, Emperor of India."
