International Polar Year Coin Series

The International Polar Year 2007-2008 (IPY) is a significant international program focused on polar science, education, and outreach. As an original signatory to the Antarctic Treaty (1961), Australia holds a proud history of involvement and exploration in Antarctica.

To commemorate the importance of the International Polar Year and Australia's deep-rooted involvement in the Antarctic region, the Royal Australian Mint is releasing a special Polar Series coin collection over a three-year period.
