2022 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Crete Medallion Cover

This limited-edition Medallion Cover (PNC) was released on Remembrance Day 2022 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Crete (1941). It was produced by Australia Post in collaboration with the Cretan Federation of Australia & New Zealand and the Battle of Crete & Greece Commemorative Council of Victoria.

The Battle of Crete remains one of the most significant actions involving ANZAC forces during WWII. After the evacuation of mainland Greece, over 30,000 Allied troops, including many Australians and New Zealanders, defended the island against a massive German airborne invasion. The strong bonds formed between the soldiers and the Cretan people who protected them are still celebrated today.
