In 2000 there was a joint Numismatic/Philatelic Trade Fair held in Sydney and Canberra from September 15 to 28 coinciding with the Olympic games.

It's name was OLYMPHILEX.

The Royal Australian Mint attended both venues with it's portable press, striking coins to order for show patrons.

The OLYMPHILEX "Canberra" and "Sydney" Edge Lettered Coins are the only Australian $1 coin with smooth edging instead of the normal interrupted reeding with lettering denoting where it was minted, either Sydney or Canberra.

The Canberra Variety had a mintage of only 72,573.

The Sydney Variety had a mintage of only 98,567.

These coins were struck for only 13 days, 20+ years ago.

Some toning has occurred on the coins (common for these older releases), but they remain in Uncirculated condition.
