2009 PNC - Australia Post 200 Years
2009 Issue Number 3
2009 PNC - 200 Years of Australia Post.
"This PNC Stamp & Coin features an early posting box. Like red sentinels, posting boxes have stood guard on the streets of cities and towns in Australia for more than 150 years. In 1856 the first cast iron street posting boxes were installed on Sydney’s streets.
Prior to this, the public handed their letters in at a post office or to a postman on his delivery rounds. Cast iron posting boxes were designed in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Most were cylindrical with a decorative frieze and topped with a feature such as a crown".
Each remains in great condition, with only minor wear.
Please note: they do not include a plastic PNC cover.
