Subject Significance

Diamantinasaurus matildae, affectionately nicknamed "Matilda," was a massive, long-necked titanosaurian sauropod that inhabited Queensland during the Mid-Cretaceous period approximately 95 million years ago. Reaching lengths of up to 15 to 16 metres, this heavy-set herbivore represents one of the largest prehistoric animals discovered on the Australian continent.
